It’s NAGAAA’s 40th Anniversary and we’re 40 days out from the start of the 2017 Gay Softball World Series in Portland. Look for these vignettes about our history, daily.
The tides began to turn for the LGBT community in 1977, albeit slowly. Harvey Milk became the first openly gay elected official elected in a major city when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. That same year NAGAAA would hold its first Gay Softball World Series featuring two teams, San Francisco Badlands and New York Ramrod in a best 2 out of 3 series. San Francisco claimed its first GSWS title.
